PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS (THE “3 PILLAR”)
RESEARCH
As part of the program, you will be participating in a-month-long research immersion program seconded into another Net0MM research group, to broaden your horizons to how research is done in other fields. You will also be expected to take part in leadership workshops (e.g., R&D leadership, time management, etc.).
SUSTAINABILITY ASSESSMENT
You will be expected to undertake trainings in life cycle assessment and system level thinking. This will be done through workshops and a graduate-level course, which experts will present case studies highlighting the challenges facing various technologies. You will also be exposed to issues involving policies and decisions making through a workshop with experts in the area.
TECHNOLOGIES COMMERCIALIZATION
You will be expected to take part in the Mitacs i2I Skills Training Program. The program is designed to help researchers build a compelling plan to elevate their research and inventions’ impact. This is a 8-month program that are delivered asynchronously online, with synchronous mid-point check-ins for each module.
In addition, each Net0MM trainee is expected to participate in a 4-6 month internship hosted with one of our industrial partners. Our partners span across many industries, all having a concern with attaining net-zero within the materials and manufacturing landscape. These internships may be coupled with one’s thesis work or they can be taken as an independent project.
